The charming, seaside community of Solana Beach is nestled along the northern coast of San Diego County, and is approximately a 30 minute drive from downtown San Diego. General Neighborhood Information

The City lives up to its name with temperatures that average 62 degrees in the wintertime and 77 degrees in the summertime. It offers 1.7 miles of coastline for swimming and surfing. Most days you will see locals drop by to watch the sun set at Fletcher Cove.

Over 6,300 homes grace the slopes of Solana Beach with most having beautiful ocean, mountain, or greenbelt views. The majority of residents of Solana Beach live in detached single family homes, although there are also condos. Most of the homes to the west of Interstate 5 were built in the 1960's and 1970's. In recent years, many of those homes have been remodeled to take advantage of the larger than normal real estate lots in this beautiful coastal location.

Solana Beach offers well-supervised beaches for swimming and surfing, and a mile-long sandy beach with shallow water for wading in the surf. Fletcher Cove is one of the most popular beaches in the city, and has easy access, a fully staffed life guard station, restrooms, half-court basketball, and a sandy beach at the foot of the bluffs.

On the east of the city is the exclusive Lomas Santa Fe Country Club. The Lomas Santa Fe Executive Golf Course is nearby and open to the public.

Also to the east, is the 100 acre San Dieguito Park, which features baseball fields, picnic areas and nature trails. Along the northern border of the city is the San Elijo Lagoon and Nature Reserve. On the southern boundary is the San Dieguito River Regional Park and Lagoon, the Fair Grounds, and Fairbanks Ranch Polo Fields, several equestrian facilities, and the race track that was founded by Bing Crosby and his pals during the 1930's.

Within Solana Beach City limits, there is an ocean front park, a community center, the San Dieguito Boys and Girls Club, soccer fields and playgrounds for those who love to participate in outdoor activities.

Solana Beach Home Info

Although the majority of homes for sale are single family units, the home values have been steadily increasing, and many people have been taking advantage of the mortgage on their realty to take out a home loan to further increase their living space.

Area Schools

Solana Beach families are served by two excellent school districts. The Solana Beach School District is for children in grades K-6 and the San Dieguito Union High School District is for students in grades 7-12. Both districts have received state and national awards for educational excellence, including California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon School status. At all levels, Solana Beach schools consistently rate among the highest in the county and the state on California's Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program.
